  • Realme 16 Pro 5G Harry Potter Edition: Is It Actually Worth ₹62,999?

Okay so Realme just did something I honestly didn’t see coming — a full Harry Potter edition of the 16 Pro 5G, launched September 21 in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery. If this feels familiar, it’s because they pulled the same move last year with a Game of Thrones themed 15 Pro. So this isn’t some random one-off idea, it’s clearly a strategy they’ve decided works.

I went and dug through everything on this phone — price, what’s actually in the box, the specs sheet, all of it — so let’s talk about whether it’s actually worth chasing down or if it’s just hype dressed up in a nice trunk.

    Price in India

₹62,999. That’s it, that’s the only price, because there’s only one configuration — 12GB RAM, 256GB storage. Realme didn’t bother making a cheaper version, which honestly tells you who this phone is for. It’s not for someone comparison shopping on a budget spreadsheet.

And people bought it fast. Sold out in the first 24 hours online, and apparently every restock since has gone the same way. If you want one now, you’re basically stalking Flipkart for restocks or calling up local Realme stores hoping they’ve got a unit sitting in a back room somewhere.

Is the price fair? Depends who you ask. You’re not just paying for a phone — you’re paying for the license, the box, and the fact that only 5,000 of these boxes exist on the planet. If you don’t care about any of that, ₹62,999 is going to feel like a rip-off. If you do care, it might feel like a steal.

The Design Is Where They Actually Tried

This isn’t a case of Realme slapping a logo on the back and calling it a day.

The back panel has this brown, leather-textured finish with an Argyle pattern lifted straight from the Wizard’s Chess scene. There’s also something called Quadra Light-Sensing tech built into the panel, centered around an embossed Hogwarts crest — so it’s not just printed on, there’s actual tech doing something with light there. The camera housing is shaped to look like Hedwig’s eyes, which sounds like a stretch until you actually see it. And there’s a “Welcome to Hogwarts” line laser-engraved into the metal frame, which is a small detail but a nice one if you’re the type who notices stuff like that.

None of it changes performance. It just means this phone doesn’t look like anything else Realme has ever made.

Honestly, the Box Might Be the Best Part

I know that sounds weird to say about a phone, but hear me out. It ships inside a box built to look like Harry’s actual trunk from the books, and this specific box is limited to 5,000 units worldwide — not necessarily the phone itself, the box.

Inside: a Hogwarts acceptance letter, a train ticket styled like the Platform 9¾ one, house-crest bookmarks, some postcards, a phone case, and a little pin. It’s clearly built to be filmed, and if you search around, you’ll find a bunch of unboxing videos already up because of exactly that.

Even the Software Got the Treatment

Themed wallpapers, custom icons, camera filters, lock screens — the whole thing leans into the Potter aesthetic from the moment you turn it on. Doesn’t change your day-to-day much, but it’s consistent, which I appreciate more than I expected to.

The Specs (Which Are Just… the Regular Phone’s Specs)

Here’s the twist nobody should really be surprised by: underneath all the theming, this is the exact same phone as the standard Realme 16 Pro 5G that came out back in January. No secret upgraded chip, no exclusive camera hardware, nothing like that.

    • Display: 6.78-inch AMOLED, 144Hz, 1272 x 2772 resolution
    • Chipset: MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Max
    • Cameras: 200MP main with OIS, 8MP ultrawide, 50MP front
    • Battery: 7,000mAh with 80W charging
    • Durability: IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K rated

All solid numbers on their own, they’re just not exclusive to this edition.

    Don’t Forget the Buds

There’s also a Buds T500 Pro Harry Potter Edition, ₹6,999, same “Magic Brown” color scheme. Sold out fast too, so if you’re trying to get the full matching set, good luck — you’ll be doing the same restock-hunting routine twice.

So Should You Actually Buy One?

If you genuinely love Harry Potter, yeah, I’d say go for it. You’re getting a phone that performs perfectly fine on its own, wrapped in packaging most special editions don’t even come close to matching.

If you don’t care about the theme at all, just buy the regular 16 Pro 5G. Same phone, less money, zero stock-hunting required.

    Skip It If…

You’re just not that into the franchise. There’s no shame in that — the standard version gives you everything performance-wise without the premium or the chase.

    Where to Actually Find One

Given how fast this keeps selling out, your realistic options are checking Flipkart regularly or calling around to physical Realme stores near you. Once that 5,000-unit trunk box is gone, it’s very likely gone for good — Realme hasn’t said anything about making more.

This phone isn’t really about the specs sheet, it’s about the whole experience they built around a perfectly good phone. Between the Warner Bros. tie-in, the trunk-style box, and the tiny production run, it’s not hard to see why it disappeared as fast as it did.

If you can still track one down and you’ve got even a little bit of Harry Potter nostalgia in you, it’s honestly hard to say no to.
